CONTEMPORARY LANDSCAPE ARTIST
Hobie Porter creates hyper-realistic paintings of the Australian landscape.
His paintings simultaneously depict the sublime experience of the panoramic view and the intimacy of its miniscule components. While everything retains a sharp focus, he utilises these extremes of scale to approach a sense of the marvellous.
Hobie is interested in visually representing land and atmosphere as an integrated whole. His paintings facilitate aesthetic and cultural understandings of land as a connected ecosystem. He finds visual metaphors that involve civilisation's role within, and relationship to, the surrounding environment.
