Set in the beautiful coastal hinterland on a 100 acre private retreat in Bangalow, this workshop is designed to address the fundamentals of landscape painting using a structured & layered oil painting process in distinct stages from beginning to end. Plein air (painting directly from landscape) is an immediate painting method which requires an exploration of colour and tonal analysis. This will be detailed to help artists gain a deeper understanding of the nuances of colour accuracy and observation when responding to place.
Hobie has mastered the technical skills of oil painting and is a highly adept teacher. He is the ideal instructor for those wanting to achieve realism using oils and refine their skills, taking their practice to a new level. Hobie is a well-regarded Australian contemporary landscape painter, exhibiting since 2004.
Your accommodation is double or twin share in a quaint farmhouse overlooking green pastures with the hinterland as your backdrop. Situated within a picturesque 100 acre farm just 3 kms drive from the beautiful village of Bangalow. The outdoor covered veranda is the ideal location to paint, conveniently positioned to maximise best light and perfect aspect to paint your surrounds. An easy 5 minute stroll from the house is a flowing river, where you will find inviting shady areas to sit and enjoy the bush setting. The house is a perfect getaway for summer or winter stays with wood fire combustion heater, ceiling fans, air-conditioning, plantation shutters and Foxtel entertainment.
Catering includes 3 lunches for non-residential guests and 3 breakfasts and 3 lunches for residential guests. The menu will include wholesome, delightful fresh produce sourced locally.
